The Daily Helping wants you to meet a wonderfully twisted artist named Hayley Cassat. A graduate of the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts).

Cassat has created a menagerie of animals that may have been cute, back in the day. The eyes and body language of his bunnies, narwhals and ducks convey heavy drinking, depression and excess. (Not unlike much of the DailyHelping readership). The drawings found on both his personal website and a tumblr are a unique pleasure. Check out both sites and enjoy.

Editors Note: Captions are from DailyHelping and not from the artist.

A few months ago DailyHelping wanted an excuse to show some pretty hot pictures of Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis. With rumors of an on-screen kiss between these two, Darren Aronofsky’s “Black Swan” generated some very early interest and Daily Helping was there to spread the word.

(The “kiss” seems to be part of some drugged, dream-like sequence if the trailer wasn’t intentionally deceptive, and they usually aren’t).

Well now here’s the trailer and it’s everything you could want and expect from a psychological thriller in the very ugly world of professional ballet.

Apparently Mr. West has recently discovered Twitter and is prolific in sharing his never ending flow of wisdom, social commentary and unfettered stream of consciousness. So random and odd are some of his “tweets” that he’s quickly become a widely followed scribe.

On their own, the “self-absorbed one” puts out entertaining bits of fluff…but paired as a caption to a random New Yorker cartoon, the result is gold. Kanye gold.

" width="160" height="300" />The DailyHelping has always touted the talent and beauty of the great actress, Helen Mirren. She has enjoyed a remarkable career, significant for it’s longevity and diversity.

Ms Mirren has been very busy as of late. She has a been doing publicity for the recently released and barely seen “Love Ranch”, a dismal story about the first legal Nevada brothel. Her husband, director Taylor Hackford paired her with the great Joe Pesci and spent most of the publicity tour discussing the prospect of filming his wife in bed with another man.

In the interest of saving it’s readers some time and aggravation, the DailyHelping staff has compiled a short list of “must see” films for anyone who wants to savor some of her lesser known, but always stimulating performances.

Age of Consent (1969), Dame Mirren’s first feature film and she’s spends a good amount of time naked. It’s an artist seeking inspiration on a sun drenched beach tale and Helen is willing to inspire.

Excalibur (1981) is a stunning film from John Boorman. It’s the tale of King Arthur and the search for the Holy Grail. Helen Mirren leaves little to the imagination as the evil Morgana.

The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover (1989) , not for the faint hearted, this is a must see film on it’s own merit. Luscious sets and cinematography add to the overall flavor of this quirky, at times grotesque film about a restaurant taken over by a vicious mobster. Put this at the top of any Helen Mirren list.

Having just turned 65 years of age, Helen Mirren continues to show no fear in baring her assets. It takes a healthy bit of personal confidence for any woman to strike a pose while in the tub, let alone for a pictorial in “New York” magazine.

Getting to work and getting your day started is a little bit rougher than usual.

The DailyHelping has delved deep in the archives for just the right “pick-me-up”, that a productive person in society needs. It’s with great pleasure that the crew unearthed this little musical number from 1944. It stars the Ross Sisters, a trio of female sibling singing dancers consisting of Aggie Ross, Elmira Ross, and Maggie Ross (whose real names were Veda Victoria, Dixie Jewel and Betsy Ann Ross.

They enjoyed a moderate amount of success in the 40’s, but its this rendition of a song called, “Solid Potato Salad” that has made them a YouTube revival story.

The song may be a bit inane, but keep watching past the 60 second point of the song. This may not be suitable for viewing while at work.

Enjoy…

Most of the DailyHelping readership recognizes the game “Football” as the game involving the round ball, instead of the oval pigskin. This game has it’s global Super Bowl coming up, The World Cup, and it’s at this time that the game captures everyone’s attention.

Nike, one of the most innovative sports-world marketeers put out an extended commercial devoted to the upcoming World Cup that’s a real pleasure to watch.

They’ve taken frozen moments for a group of international superstars and visualized the fantasies that spring to mind just before that world-shattering score. It goes from one football star to another, each moment of adoration more over the top than the next.

There’s some subtlety, humor, cameos and amazing camera work. Enjoy…

Meet the Winscape, a pair of plasma displays mounted to the wall in your windowless apartment or dreary suburban landscape. They’re designed to mimic real windows in places where the real estate agent actually has a dollar amount for what you can be seen outside.

Why not just run a screensaver on a plasma TV? The Winscape goes one better. If you wear a corresponding IR necklace or a Wii (see baby’s necklace in the video below), the software tracks your position and changes the view. Walk up close and look down and it all looks pretty realistic. Walk over to the right, and you’ll see a little more out the left side of the window. This isn’t like those weird eyes in a painting that seem to follow you. This is high tech mimicry that is all yours for between $2500.00 to $3000.00
