James Cameron is the director of  expensive, tech savvy films that could make or break a studio. More often than not, he’s a goldmine, with each picture growing in complexity and popularity.    (“The Terminator” lead to “Aliens” which led to “The Abyss“.  Then came ” Terminator 2″, “True Lies” and then the record-breaking, “Titanic” and if  you’re savvy to the  “Entourage” universe, the box office giant,” Aquaman”).

Due to be released a week before Christmas, Avatar is going to be quite the movie event. The publicity machine is already hard at work laying the groundwork for what will likely be the most anticipated film of the year.

This is a nice, long, juicy trailer and it shows quite a bit of technical magic and also pretty much lays out the plot. Most wouldn’t risk showing this much, but then word of mouth will make this a titanic success.
